Day 5: Baby Dung - Friday the 13th

Today, during a transect, we came across two little pieces of baby elephant dung. As Jayathilaka-our field guide- pointed this out to us, my first thought was “awww”. For the last two days, we have examined piles and piles of elephant dung and it seemed like a perfectly natural thing to do. But now the fact that I found animal excrement adorable made me actually reflect about the fact that we've been scrutinizing piles of shit.

Here is a spot on picture of the human-elephant conflict. In this pile of dung, one can see plastic bags from the processed food they have consumed and obviously can not digest. You can also see litte leaflets sprouting up from seeds of the crop field elephants venture to.
