Expanse of Paddy Fields
Today, we spent the morning doing a tank/lake monitoring activity looking for signs of elephant presence. We walked around the periphery of the lake through swamped crop fields, thorn covered hill paths and grasslands taller than we were. We came out scratched and muddy. But it was a stunning walk in itself. As i looked on at the paddy fields that surrounded us there was something about the immensity of the green that reminded me of the immensity of the ocean. As the plucking season approaches, the fields seem to getting lusher and lusher.

Creaky Old Wooden Bridge
The evening in the treehouse was the best yet. At about 6pm, little bits of a bull elephant showed themselves through the shrubs. This is the same view of elephants we've been seeing for the last week. The surprise was that once he was done with his meal, he decided to trot himself over just below the treehouse. He seemed to be almost charging; ears flapping. This bugger was one of the biggest I've seen. As he got to about 5 meters in front of the treehouse, he suddenly dashed off into the jungle. We hear he's a known temperamental fellow.
