Day 1 - 9/1/12

Travel. The trip here alone was a real Sri Lankan experience. What should have taken us about 6 hours to get here took the entire day. We took rather a circuitous route with a couple detours to pick up my internship advisor, Chintaka, from Kegalle -a town a little too South from the usual route- and then two other volunteers, Leighanne and Adam from Dambulla - a town a little too North from the usual route. Leaving home at 8:30am, we arrived at the site at 8:30pm. At least the long ride allowed some great photographic moments with Reeve, who will be spending the entire month with me in the Jungle :) I thought I'd have adjustment issues with the jungle. For that boy, on the other hand, it will be an impressive feat.
