12/1/12 – SLWCS Lodge

Whether read or completed unvisited, I'm starting this blog to document my month in the jungle. Rather out of my comfort zone, I decided to spend my Field Work Term just outside the Wasgamuwa National Park of Sri Lanka. I've known for quite some years now that I wanted my career to revolve around hands-on environmental research, but I have not spent an entire month in complete isolation from the developed world since I was a child; since I became a bit too much of a city girl for my own liking. Albeit being in the jungle, I do have some luxuries here such as electricity, extremely slow and temperamental internet and simple but excellent, local meals served to me thrice daily.
